How to write a Good Proposal?

Proposal on Job Post

A Proposal has a lot of purposes, but there is only one way to write one: the way that pulls together all the information clearly and concisely and gets you what you want. A Proposal is a way to pitch an idea, it’s a chance for you to make structured, logical arguments and lay down everything in favour of your idea. The intent of the proposal is to grab clients' attention. Once you grab the attention the next step is to get them excited.

STRATEGIES BEFORE COMPOSING A PROPOSAL

  • Identify and define what your client needs: This is the first step and the most important thing as you go along.

  • Conduct your research: Research on how you will be able to convince the client about your proposal.

  • Draft and organize: Take some time to brainstorm some great notions before you start writing. And think about how you will organize them.

  • Proofread the proposal: Poor spelling and grammar will only discredit the efforts and value you have put in. We would suggest you install a tool like Grammarly and check the proposal in an online text editor.

Getting in the heads of the people you are writing for is vital, you need to think like the client to deliver a proposal that meets their needs. So here are a few tips that can help you create an impressive proposal for the client:

  • Short and crispy proposal: Try to keep your proposal short and to the point. Writing long paragraphs about your life’s story might be tedious for the client and you surely don’t want that to happen, right? So we recommend you to stick to the point and pay more attention to what the client needs.
  • Explain your basic approach: Take your time, and explain how you will put your task into place. There are a lot of moving pieces, so it’s better to give clients an idea of how things will proceed.
  •  Attach samples of your work: Adding the samples of your work in the proposal enhances the chances of you winning the project. The kind of work that you have done represents your skills and capability, which ultimately helps you gain their confidence and gives you an edge over other freelancers.
  • Why should someone hire you?: This is one of the major concerns of the client and you ought to give them a reason as to why they should choose you over any other candidate. You can mention the following details about the same in your proposal:

               1. Skills

               2. Work experience

               3. Your education

This brings unique value to your proposal and seals the deal.

  • Give realistic quotes: The cost of the project is an imperative subject for both- the freelancer and the client. Now the ball is in your court and thus you have to quote a reasonable price for the project- neither too high nor too little. Analyze the project precisely and then decide the most suitable cost and timeline for it.

If you follow the simple framework above, you’ll make an unforgettable first impression on clients.
